Entangled Minds, Extrasensory Experiences In a Quantum Reality

By Dean Radin

Summary

Across many disciplines in science, basic laws or rules are changing with new discoveries.  Such as:

Cosmologists, the people who study the cosmos, the stars, think they have accidentally overlooked 96% of the universe, the so called ‘dark’ energy.

Molecular biologists, who until recently regarded large segments of the genome as ‘junk DNA’ because no one knew what it was good for now think it may not be junk at all.

Neuroscientists always thought that brain neurons did not regenerate – now they know neurons do regenerate.  The plasticity of the brain is much greater than previously thought.  In 1980 a case was reported in Science where a young man was found to have virtually no brain with an IQ of 126, an honors graduate in mathematics – a normal guy.

Cosmologists believe now that black holes are a type of hologram, or an interference in patterns in space time.  They have no idea how or why it works.

Quantum theories abound and are changing rapidly.  Particles that are separated appear to continue to be entangled.  If you affect one the other one instantaneously is affected in a like way.  No matter how far away it is.  It’s like magic.  These experiments are now ‘old hat’.  No one knows how it works, just that it does.

Despite everyday appearances, we might be living within a holistic, deeply interconnected reality.  To be clear, these speculations are being proposed by traditional physicists, not by starry-eyed new agers or mystics.

Can two human beings become entangled?  The main part of this book is putting forth experiments and theories over time, both of psi and quantum physicists to show that psi is real because of entangled minds.  He makes a very convincing case that both psi is real and that quantum physicists are slowly, reluctantly proving it.

It has also been discovered that the observer changes the observed.  Lots of very technical data and experiments and quantum theory in this book support that.  It is an accepted fact.  In other words, reality is somehow created by the observation of itself. “We now know that fundamental properties of the world are not determined before they are observed.”

Quantum reality is holistic, and as such any attempt to study its individual pieces will give an incomplete picture.  Consider – every possible outcome is possible until it is observed.  As observers we have a very important role in the world.

So, something unaccounted for is connecting otherwise isolated objects (or humans).

Radin contends that psi is the human experience of the entangled universe.

In ancient times, lasting for tens of thousands of years – this could be called the Age of Magic or Spirit – reality was imagined to exist in cycles.  This was inferred from the rhythms observed in the stars, the seasons, the days and the lifecycles of all living creatures.  The concept of mind was associated with soul, a spark of the divine presence within us.  Psi in ancient times was accepted as normal.

Next came the Industrial age, with its material clocklike view of the world of parts.  We are now in the Information age of the computer.  What’s next. The ages are passing very quickly as compared to the many thousands of years of the age of Magic or Spirit.

It appears to some that the discoveries in quantum physics are returning us to the age of Magic and Spirit, with more information.

Some experiments have shown that observation retroactively influences quantum events.  David Bohm, an Einstein protégé, believes  there is a deeper reality than the one presented by our senses – he calls it the implicate order – an undivided holistic realm where everything is fully enfolded or entangled with everything else – even across time.  Michael Talbot wrote a book entitled The Holographic Universe where he discusses this in great detail.

Brain research and theories say that the synapse mechanism produces a cloud of potentials in our brain in trillions of locations all the time.  The brain is observing these potentials.  The conscious mind directs all this into focused awareness.  It acts as a filter – it must make decisions.  It sustains what is familiar.  It is theorized that one person’s cloud of potentials can affect another person.  The waves are one.

The universe could be a vast web of particles, which remain in contact with one another over any distance in “no time”.  All of physical reality is a single quantum system.

“At a level of reality deeper than the ordinary senses can grasp, our brains and minds are in intimate communion with the universe.”

At some level our minds/brains are already coexistent with other people’s minds, distant objects and everything else – we are one.

Psychic experiences are reframed not as mysterious powers of the mind but as momentary glimpses of the entangled fabric of reality. Quantum entanglement does not imply that signals pass between, but that separate systems are correlated.

Imagine that our mind/brain is sensitive to the dynamic state of the entire universe.  The unconscious mind is always scanning – the universe – it alerts your conscious mind – a gut feeling – imagination – dreams.

We are always connected – to each other and to everything.  No information transfer needs to take place because there are no separate parts.

I read this book looking for information about how astrology works.  How can the planets affect humans here on earth.  The earliest archeological finds show astrology was ancient at that time.  So, no one knows how long humans have believed the heavens affect life here on earth.  Radin makes a very convincing, scientific case for psi.  He also gave me some food for thought about how astrology works:

The universe could be a vast web of particles, which remain in contact with one another over any distance in “no time”.  All of physical reality is a single quantum system.
