Ideas of Wrongdoing and Rightdoing

3d_393[1]Ideas of Wrongdoing and Rightdoing

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing
and rightdoing there is a field.
I’ll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass the world is too full to talk about.”
— Rumi

This Rumi quote is one of my favorites.  To me Rumi is reminding us that what we label or judge as right or wrong are simply ideas.  It’s so easy for us each to get caught up in our beliefs or in the way we perceive the world.  We become overly attached to our view of the world and forget it’s simply our opinion.  There are 7 billion people on this planet right now.  Seven billion views of the world!  Now that’s creativity in action.

So, your way is one of 7 billion – humbling – right?  Here’s the number written out – 7,000,000,000.

Rumi says there is a field out beyond our own ideas and beliefs.  Our ground of being – the ground all 7 billion of us share.  When we can meet in that place, “the world is too full to talk about.”

“I’ll meet you there.”
