March is a transition month, winter officially ends and spring begins at the Spring Equinox each year. We leave darkness behind and step into the light of a new year. New seeds are sown. The cycle of life begins anew.
This March we may experience a particularly powerful transition time. The full moon is on March 5 with the Sun at 14 degrees Pisces and the Moon in opposition at 14 degrees Virgo. Two very different energies. Pisces is about spirit, intuition and feelings. Virgo is practical, analytical and linear. We all have access to both energies and usually come to rely on one over the other.
Here in the West, spirit and intuitive knowing is often times devalued. Linear, practical thinking wins the day for most of us. The challenge is to integrate both energies, learn to reach a balance point inside. How do we integrate matter and spirit; head and heart; judgment and compassion? This full moon illuminates one of the biggest shifts taking place in each of us. Do we believe the world is a bunch of parts assembled into various machines – us, a tree, a car, a TV – mechanistic, materialistic thinking? Or, do we believe everything is made of the same energy, all interconnected, vibrating, breathing together?
Chiron in Pisces, the wounded healer, joins this full moon, supporting us in surfacing and healing old wounds or resolving painful issues.
These energies pave the way for the Cardinal Climax on March 16. Uranus at 15 degrees Aries is in square with Pluto at 15 degrees Capricorn. They are meeting for the 7th and final time. This time both planets are in direct motion, bringing all their gifts and challenges. Uranus is associated with revolution, Pluto with evolution. On the collective level these planets have brought and are bringing a mass shift in consciousness. We are changing the way we view many cornerstones of our society, and possibly ourselves.
What has changed in your life in recent years? What challenges have come your way? How have you changed inside – your views, beliefs, and habits? It’s important to remember, these energies, while very powerfully felt, support us on our journey to maturity, authenticity and joy.
On the heels of this powerful square, the new moon forms in Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac, at 29 degrees, close to the last degree of the zodiac. This is also a total solar eclipse. New moons mark endings and beginnings. Eclipses are extra powerful new moons, they affect the electromagnetic field of the Earth and all of us. The doors of perception are widened if we are in a quiet, receptive place. Meditation, time in nature, music, anything that takes you away from your daily, practical world into your spirit or soul. Some view this as a time we can access the bridge between the worlds more easily.
The Spring Equinox forms within 13 hours of this total eclipse. At the Equinox the Sun is in alignment with the Earth’s equator. Days and nights are equal. It is believed the Earth’s magnetic field is reduced during this time, enabling us to access high dimensions more easily. Wisdom teachings have always taught the Equinox and Solstice points each year are doorways or gateways. They have been celebrated for millennia as times to set intentions, or access other worlds through ceremony, music, dance or ritual. This can be an incredibly creative time. The veils between the worlds are thin.
These energies can sound very “out there” and they are. Practice staying open to your own life. Aware. Awake. Consider welcoming change or transformation. Why are you here? What is your mission? What do you want? These energies will support you in any changes you choose to make – engage them, rather than feeling a passive victim of them.
The term “radical aliveness” comes to mind, a state in which you are fully alive, authentic, and spontaneous. You are open to all of your feelings, connected to your strength and your truth. You are not afraid to know anything about yourself. In this state you embrace your creativity and see life in all its possibilities.
“In the midst of all the confusion . . . of life, did you live the life seeded in your soul to begin with? Did you become weird enough and finally wise enough to become yourself?” – Michael Meade
I wish you weirdness and wisdom.
