We all have our idea of what our perfect life would be. Perfect health, lots of money, many people to love us and who we can love in return, a great job, kids that are stars and never give you a moments problem, a great car, a wise guru, a perfect wave – think about it – what is the “party you hoped for?”
The thing is we all dream of the perfect life and then go about making choices that don’t support the dream. Our strategy then may be to find someone else to blame for not having the life we dreamed. If that doesn’t work, there is always the government, religion, our parents, maybe an ex-spouse to blame. This is the “it’s not my fault” strategy.
Another popular strategy is what I call “‘ole poor me.” We easily fall into victim or martyr thoughts. I can’t ever catch a break. Look at him/her – why can’t I have that life?
So, here’s the deal. First, be sure the “party” you are dreaming of is really what you want. That’s big – spend some time thinking about that one.
If it is, do you, in your deepest being, believe you deserve it and that it’s possible for you to have? Next, are your choices in alignment with your desires?
Remember to be grateful for what’s going great, and that “while we are here, we might as well dance!”
